Rahina Ramen Pop Up

The Rahina Ramen Pop-Up, a culinary fusion extravaganza, emerged as the brainchild of Fatma, in partnership with the esteemed Terracotta restaurant in Muscat. This collaborative effort brought together her innovative creative vision, Terracotta's culinary expertise, and the vibrant backdrop of Muscat's dining scene.

With a team of more than 20 passionate individuals, Rahina embarked on a groundbreaking culinary journey, weaving together the rich tapestries of Japanese, Omani, and Filipino cuisines. This marked a significant milestone as Fatma ingeniously merged her dual heritages into a singular, delectable experience, a first-of-its-kind endeavor.

Attention to detail permeated every aspect of the pop-up, from the meticulously crafted menu items to the creation of a brand new typeface, seamlessly blending Japanese katakana with Arabic script for a harmonious visual representation.

Adding a touch of whimsy, the pop-up introduced Nia, a mythical mascot uniting the majestic Japanese dragon with the enigmatic Arabian Leopard from Dhofar, symbolizing the cultural fusion at the heart of the project.

The ambiance of the pop-up was transformed into a veritable feast for the senses, with art and merchandise adorning every corner of the restaurant.  The artwork sold at the pop up was co-created with Omani Artist Mohammed Al Attar (@mimoon_art)

While the artisal handmade pottery pieces was created by Sarah Al Lamki ( @seen_ceramics ).

During the 3 day pop-up: Soft fusion Japanese melodies floated through the air, and for entertainment in between meals; origami papers on the tables for the customers to play with, held down by glimmering Omani clear quartz, hand picked from Rustaq's mountains. These elements weave together to create a sensory journey  to  immerse the guests.

The pop-up offered a curated three-course menu: crispy rice crisps dusted with Chips Oman and thyme, served with sweet chili sauce and a side of calamansi for starters.

The main course featured Rahina Ramen—a coconut broth sweetened with kholas dates, accompanied by caramelized Brussels sprouts, air-fried tofu, and topped with coriander, roasted almonds, and seeds.

The dessert consisted of vanilla ice cream flavored with calamansi peel, served atop graham crackers.

To complement the meal, guests could choose between a spicy calamansi drink or a refreshing calamansi lemonade.

Over three unforgettable days in February 2023, Rahina Ramen Pop-Up played host to over 160 attendees, who were treated to a gastronomic experience, a celebration of culinary diversity.
